bi-polar-ptsd and ecstasy

Hello,

I am bi-polar ptsd. I currently take Nuerontin, celexa, and ativan. How do these perscription drugs mix with MDMA? Also can MDMA induce mania beyond that of the normal 4-6 hour period? I partially blame the use of LSD and MDMA for my illnesses. I did too much for too long. How detrimental would it be for me to roll every 6 months or so. I haven't done it in 2 years and I really miss it. I miss the aspects of me it awakens.

Thanx.

Dr ChalZ replied:

Complicated. If she believes her problems were precipitated by LSD & MDMA, then there's no descussion here. In my experience substances like LSD & MDMA don't cause psychiatric problems, but they sure as hell can catalyse them. Moreover for those individuals who have psychiatric problems like mood disorders to begin with, substances like LSD or MDMA can be very toxic. And the answer to the question as to whether MDMA can precipitate mania, most definately YES YES YES. MDMA has a partial speed like effect, & mania is an internal speeding.

Bipolar disorder is another name for manic depression, PTSD stands for post traumatic stress disorder & is a syndrome that sometimes occurs in people who have been through extreme trauma in their lives, & consists of symptoms of depression, nitemares, anxiety, numbness etc. Bipolar & PTSD do not have a connection per se. Neurontin (gabapentin) is a drug used for both seizure
control & as a mood stabiliser, Celexa (cytalopram) is a prozac like drug, & Ativan (lorazepam) is a tranquiliser like valium. I would not even like to hazard a guess as to how this combination would interact with MDMA, & I would strongly advise the avoidance of such experiments.

Regards,
ChalZ
