"I was raised in a family quite strictly and drugs were very much a taboo, but my belief in life has always been that just because other people believe that something is wrong, generally does not mean that it is truly wrong. I was introduced to Ecstasy by some friends of mine, and not only did they introduce it to me, they educated me about it. I am a firm believer that young people are going to experiment no matter how you try to deter them from it. They must then be educated about something, so that they may use it as safely as possible and avoid many of the unnecessary deaths that occur every year due to the use of illegal substances.
I began going to Raves and after hours clubs a short while ago and I was then introduced to a whole side of life I had never experienced. I work in night club and I have seen the effects of alcohol on young people, and although it may be legal, its use is no more right than the use of marijuana or ecstasy, when used with some intelligence. A rave is one place you can find up to 5000 people partying and you will rarely find a fight. Everyone is free to be themselves, to dress as they please without the judgement of others and they are so nice to each other, offering to help those around them that may need it. You find such a variety of people, those that dress up to impress, those that could be trick or treating, and those of us that are comfortable being there in sweat pants. I have always been very self-concious and somewhat of an introvert, but I have been in a place where I have felt so comfortable with myself, or so confident, and not worry about what others are thinking. I have found myself able to go to these places sober and still have so much fun I look forward to the next one. My sister, who does not drink or do drugs, enjoys accompanying me to these places, as she feels the same as I do when she is there. To all of those parents who worry about their children in places like this, there is always an element of danger no matter where you are, but I would just like to say that, if your children are educated about safe use and smart about it, they are safer at a rave or after hours club than they are at any bar."
